Find Utility

The Find Utility page allows you to search for utility entities (utilities, utility systems, meter sites, or meters) based on a specified search term.

You must have the appropriate security rights to find a utility. Some of these utility types may not be enabled due to your system configuration or the permissions granted to your account.

To find a utility entity:

  1. Access the Utility module by clicking the Utility link at the top of the page.

  2. Select the Find tab.
  3. In the Choose a Utility item field, select the type of entity you are searching for.

    If Meter is chosen from the menu, you will be re-directed to the Find Asset page.

  4. Specify a value for the available filters to narrow search results.

    The following filters are available for Utility Meter Sites:

    • Name - you can enter the name of the meter site in this field

    • Meter Site Status - you can select the status of the meter site from this field (for example, Active or Inactive)

    • Property - you can select the property to which the meter site belongs by clicking the Select link for this filter

    • Region - you can select the region to which the meter site belongs by clicking the Select link for this filter

    • Utility - you can select the utility type measured at the meter site from this field (for example, Electrical, Steam, or Water)

    • Utility System - you can select the utility system to which the meter site is associated from this field

    • Meter Site Type - you can select the type of meter site from this field (for example, Production, Consumption, or Deduct)

    The following filters are available for Utility Systems:

    • Name - you can enter the name of the utility system in this field
    • Status - you can select the status of the meter site from this field (for example, Active or Inactive)
    • Utility - you can select the utility type measured at the utility system from this field (for example, Electrical, Steam, or Water)

    The following filters have been added for Utilities:

    • Name - you can enter the name of the utility in this field
    • Status - you can select the status of the utility from this field (for example, Active or Inactive)

    To return a list of all utility entities you can access, leave all filters blank.

  5. Click FIND.

    A list of results appear. The columns of data displayed depend on the type of utility entity you searched for. You can sort the results by clicking any of the column headings. If you do not see the utility entity you were searching for, you can create it by clicking the Create Utility link.

    Find Utility Results

    • Name – the name of the utility; clicking this link opens the View Utility page

    • Description – the description for the utility

    • Status – the status of the utility (for example, Active or Inactive)
    • UOM – the unit of measure that applies to the utility; for example, electricity might be measured in kWh (Kilowatt-hour)
    • BTU Factor – the British Thermal Unit factor if the utility is natural gas (BTU per hour is a unit for measuring the heating value of natural gas)

    • Recharge Rate – the amount charged per utility unit for a billing period

    • Minimum Billing – the minimum amount billed every billing period for this utility, even if the actual usage amounts to less

    Find Utility System Results

    • System Name – the name of the utility system; clicking this link opens the View Utility System page.

    • Utility – the utility type of the utility system(for example, Electrical, Steam, or Water)
    • Status – the status of the utility system (for example, Active or Inactive)

    • Metered Option – indicates how much of the utility system's consumption is captured by meter sites (for example, Full or Partial)

    • Region – the region to which the utility system belongs

    • Last Updated By – the name of the user who last updated the utility system information

    • Last Updated – the date and when utility system information was last updated

    Find Meter Site Results

    • Site Name – the name of the meter site; clicking this link opens the View Meter Site page

    • Description – a description of the meter site
    • Type – the type of meter site (for example, Production, Consumption, or Deduct)

    • Utility/System – the utility type measured at the meter site (for example, Electrical, Steam, or Water) and the utility system to which the meter site is associated

    • Meter Site Group – the meter site group to which the meter site is associated

    • Group Order– the order number of which the meter site should be read within a meter site group

    • Status –the status of the meter site (for example, Active or Inactive)
